Beautiful Beasties Project 52- Happy Faces

The Beautiful Beasties Network is a international network of awesome pet photographers and I am so honored to be a part of it. In this network there is a group of members who created Project 52. How does it work? Well, each week the theme is announced and we head out and photograph our take on the theme and post it to our blogs at the same time and link to the next member in the group so if you guys wanted to see everyones photos you can click through until you end up back here with me. SO STINKIN’ FUN!

This weeks theme is Happy Faces. Lenny got neutered and gastroplexy done on tuesday so there isn’t much for capturing the happy face when I get home. But for our Valentines Day photos there were plenty of happy faces from the both Lenny and Oscar. Toy overload!

Ok, now go check out Spotty Nose Pet Photography in Los Angeles, California and see their take on this weeks theme and all the others in the group and you’ll end up back here with me. Have fun and have a great weekend!

Happy Dog by Melbourne Pet Photographer - [...] head on over to Mary Beth Arnold, Iowa/Illinois Quad City Pet Photographer to see a happy face on her blog! Keep on clicking through the blog ring until you end back at [...]

This weeks theme was “Motion” and this was great because Lenny loves to play frisbee. Josh got to throw around the frisbee with him in the snow! Woohoo! Lenny had a blast. I love how his ears flop around- so cute!

Ok, now go check out Tennessee Dog Photographer, Kelly Coyle and see their take on this weeks theme and all the others in the group and you’ll end up back here with me. Have fun and have a great weekend!

Deanna Hurt - Lenny is such a gorgeous dog! I love the ears up too but the first one cracks me up with his ears up but still curled too.

Tracy Sutherland - Floppy ears are the best!

Project Life Monday

Week 4 of Becky Higgins Project Life 365! Woohoo! I am slowly getting into the swing of things. I also am digging the digital format. (I use the Seafoam Edition from ACDigitals) I enjoy the flexibility of multiple layouts and being able to change the colors of things to go with the layouts each week. Having different templates helps with the fact that every week I am not stuck with the same amount of photos. So some weeks I take more photos and others I don’t. I can also use big photos if I happen to love one from the past week and want to showcase it. I am also starting to get the hang of photographing random things like receipts and little bits of life that I would normally just save and stick into the pockets. With digital obviously you cant do that. Photographing them is how I am dealing with that because I really don’t want to have to scan things. One quick iPhone photo and it shows up in my photostream and BOOM I can drop it into my layout and I am totally loving that! I am also loving that I’m not having to get things printed every week just to stay current. And the fact that I am saving everything in jpeg and psd file format means that I can always so back and fix things before I finally print them at the end of the year. (Because it never fails that I’ll catch things I have spelled wrong from trying to type too fast. LOL)

The Design Aglow Project Life 365 is awesome! I cannot say enough about this challenge and look forward to searching out what the next photo of the day is going to be. I will admit this week some of the photos didn’t get posted on that particular day, but all of the daily subjects did get photographed. I never could get into Instagram before but now I see why everyone loves it! I love seeing everyone else’s take on the daily challenges. And I like being to connect with people all over the world that have the same passion for photos. These are last weeks challenges in no particular order: #faux, #real, #Currently_reading, #dream, #makes_me_smile, #transparent, and #guest.

Have a great Monday everyone!

Beautiful Beasties Project 52- Black and White

The Beautiful Beasties Network is a international network of awesome pet photographers and I am so honored to be a part of it. In this network there is a group of members who created Project 52. How does it work? Well, each week the theme is announced and we head out and photograph our take on the theme and post it to our blogs at the same time and link to the next member in the group so if you guys wanted to see everyones photos you can click through until you end up back here with me. SO STINKIN’ FUN!

This weeks theme was Black & White. I liked this challenge because I don’t do a ton of b&w. Not because I don’t like it, but it’s sort of like the vintage trend, I love it when I see other photos with it- I just don’t ever think mine look right that way. But some other photographers… DANG! They can bring the vintage! Anywhoo… back to the black and white. This was a tough challenge, balancing keeping the softbox from spilling light all over the background was the first hurdle. (Queue Lexi to hold the reflector to block!) And then the tips of Lennys ears are black so I wish I used a rim light to separate him a little more. I will definitely be working on this more! Great theme!

Ok, now go check out HMG Photography, Pet & Portrait Photographer in Parkton, MD and see their take on this weeks theme and all the others in the group and you’ll end up back here with me. Have fun and have a great weekend!

Caitlin McColl - I think black and white really works with your modern style. Especially when you shoot minimalist like this. The last photo is my favourite – love the detail in his whiskers.

Alicia Kapheim - These are very nice. Love it!

Deanna Hurt - Love these. I really love the 3 one with the dog walking away and the last one. Great shots!

Karen Ramos - I really enjoy the black and white contrast in these images. My favorite is the shot of Lenny walking out of the frame.

Tracy Sutherland - Lenny is so handsome.

That last shot is my favourite. Those whiskers!!

Nat - I love the one of him facing away and into the light. So sweet and elegant.

Sharon Stokes - Well, I think you rocked the B&W theme!! Great use of light, Lenny sure is a spunk!! The last shot is my fave but closely followed by the one of him leaving ;)

Mary Beth - Thanks Sharon! You’re right about him being spunky! And during this challenge- there was a lot of him leaving. LOL Lots of fun tho’.

Mary Beth - Thanks Nat! That one is one of my favs. I just love his ears.

Mary Beth - Tracy- I think he gets more handsome the bigger he gets! He’s got good whiskers- and good eyelashes.

ncspets - WOW, you did awesome with this week’s topic! Love the “bum” shots.

Mary Beth - Karen- I think Lennys favorite ones of this session were him walking off set. LOL

Mary Beth - Thanks Deanna!

Mary Beth - Thanks Alicia!

Mary Beth - Thanks Caitlin! I’m definitely going to work on this some more. It was a lot of fun this week.

Mary Beth - Nicole- I too love the “bum” shots! LOL I also like how his back feet aren’t even touching the ground in the one!

Melissa - Great fun!

Karen - Lovely work this week!
